Angel Wing Begonias Growing under the trees

Angel Wing Begonias Growing under the trees

You are looking at some of my Angel Wing begonias growing by the fence under the trees in the Texas heat! Every spring, summer and fall, I take all of my Angel Wing Begonias out of the green house and put them under the trees in my back yard. They just love it out there and they grow so fast. They bloom almost year round! Some of them will stop blooming from December till mid February; but they know when spring time is coming around! Because they just start growing and blooming like crazy!  I know a lot of begonia growing beginners say, ” I can’t get my Angel Wing Begonias to bloom”, just don’t give up! they will bloom eventually.   I can tell you stories on how I could never get an Angel Wing Begonia to bloom. But the Angel Wing Begonia down the street was blooming all the time! What do I need to do to get mine to bloom! I asked the neighbor what’s the secret? She just said I use peter’s fertilizer and water it when it’s almost dry. Of course I did what she said but it still didn’t work! I finally figured out (it took me 25 + years and still figuring out how to grow begonias!) Angel Wing begonias grow better under the trees and on a patio in the summer. They like the cooler night temperatures! I do fertilize my Angel Wing Begonias every time I water and I water them with plain water once a month. I do not fertilize in the winter. Types of fertilizers I have used are Peter’s, Miracle Grow, Schultz, Fish Emulsion, and I will probably try new ones! It doesn’t matter which fertilizer you use  just keep a regular schedule.
