Episcia Teddy Bear

Episcia Teddy Bear

Just wanted every one to see the flowers on this episcia. Isn’t it just gorgeous. I know the flower looks like the flower on lil lemon. The difference is the leaves. The leaves on this episcia are more of a bronze velvety texture with a light green center. This episcia has been growing on my patio. Episcias like very warm temperatures. I have been reading a lot of information on episcias and I still read that episcias are hard to grow. I use to think that also; but I finally decided to try growing them outside in the summer, instead of inside under lights. I still grow them inside in the winter; they hate cold temperatures.

I purchased this episcia at The Zilker Botanical Gardens in Austin, Texas at an African Violet show in March. I didn’t know what color it bloomed until now. Hopefully I will have a few to sell by the end of the summer; they are too small at the moment. I might list one of the small starters on ebay, just to see what people will bid for it. It is a very popular episcia; I get emails from a few people asking me if I am going to sell any of these soon.

Episcia Lil Lemon

It just bloomed for me today! At first I thought it was called lil lemon because of the leaves. The leaves look a light green/yellowish color. I knew it bloomed pink, because I looked on line to see what color it bloomed. I purchased this one at a African Violet show in Austin at The Zilker Botanical Gardens. I saw a few on ebay and one seller mentioned it bloomed yellow; but I had my doubts about it blooming yellow. So I was waiting for the pink bloom. I thought it would bloom a normal pink bloom just like all of the other pink blooming episcias. But what a surprise! The seller on ebay was partly right about the yellow flower! As you can see in the picture the flower is pink but the back ground is yellow! What a contrast and oh so pretty! I have one on auction on ebay right now it is a very small starter. Strarting bid is 99 cents; I hope the bidding goes up! I have some on my website store for sale right now at $5.00 of course they are a much bigger size! I also have a few other episcias for sale and soon I will have more listed on my website. If your interested in purchasing a few of these here is my website. Toni’s Home Nursery

Episcia Blue Nile

Episcia Blue Nile

I wanted everyone to see an episcia that blooms lavender/Blue flowers! There are many lilacina episcias, to name a few there is lilacina frimbriata blue heaven and lilacina Costa Rica; all of these bloom lavender/blue flowers. They are just so pretty. You take care of them just the same as all of the other episcias. There are so many episcias to collect! But not enough space to grow them in. Once you get them going they grow like weeds! So you have to keep cutting them back. But then you have more episcias! Share them with your friends and family! Or you can always try to sell them on ebay! This is a great hobby! That is how I got started and now its a business!

Episcia My Precious

Episcia My Precious

Episcia My Precious is blooming a beautiful lemon color flower. This episcia has light green and silver leaves. I couldn’t wait for the flower to open! As soon as it bloomed I took this picture. I purchased this episcia about six weeks ago. I don’t have very many green leaved episcias as you can see from all of my other episicas that are pictured on my blog. Hopefully I will have a few starter plants by the end of the summer. Does anyone know how many other episcias bloom yellow? I know of two other episcias that bloom yellow; Episcia Tropical Topaz and Episcia Suomi.

Blooming Peach flowers! What a beauty! This episcia is just growing and blooming on my patio in 95 + degree temperature! Soon it will be in the 100’s here in Austin, Texas! Episcia sea foam has silvery green leaves with a pink/mauve hue with pink veins in the leaves. The flowers are peach and it is just blooming profusely! Episcias are really easy to grow! Try growing them outside in the summer time under a covered patio; you will be surprised how beautiful they are and how fast they grow! Episcias I bid on at ebay

Episcias I bid on at ebay!

I just wanted to show every one a picture of a couple of episcias I won at ebay. The winning bid was $4.95. I just love bidding on plants on ebay. You can get lots of different varieties of plants at great prices! If you can’t find a certain plant that you are looking for in your home town; you can always try ebay! I bet you will find it there. Just make sure that if you do decide to purchase something off of ebay check on the sellers feedback before you bid or purchase something. Take a look now to see what episcias are

Episcia Black Foot Blooming red and orange flowers

Episcia Black Foot Blooming Orange/Red Flowers

Doesn’t the name describe this episcia exactly! The leaves are a deep burgundy bronze and the flowers are a bright orange/red color. The leaves are a medium size and this episcia seems to grow more compact than the others. I have been waiting for it to produce some stolons so I can take a few cuttings, but it prefers to keep on blooming instead of growing more runners. I probably won’t have any to sale until late summer or early fall.

Episcia fimbriata blue heaven

Episcia fimbriata blue heaven

Episcia fimbriata blue heaven is one of the episcias that bloom a lavender/blue flower. It is very pretty and it grows lots of runners. I have had as many as 50 or more starter plants of this episcia at one time! The leaves on this episcia are a bright green with a velvety texture. It looks so delicate! But it is just to easy to grow! This episcia along with my other episcias; including episcia ember lace is growing out side on the patio. I grow all of my episcias outside on the patio in the summer. In the winter I bring them back inside of the house and grow them under florescent lights.

Episcia Pink Acajou

Episcia Pink Acajou

Episcia Pink Acajou is such a beautiful episcia! It has such beautiful bright pink and mauve leaves with a quilted bronze edge. I grow episcias instead of Rex begonias in the summer. Episcias are so much easier to grow than a Rex begonia here in Texas. I love Rex begonias, but they can not stand the summer heat! Episcias in the other hand just love it! As you can see they have beautiful peacock color leaves! (Many colors) and they bloom lots of tubular flowers all over the plant. Episcias bloom in many different colors, they bloom in red, orange, yellow, white, lavender, and white with a dusty rose stripe! The episcia in the picture is only 6 weeks old! Did I mention they grow fast! They love the heat! Below is picture of starter plant of Episcia Pink acajou in a 4″ pot.
