I love to make log cabin quilts! I use to watch a show called simply quilts on HGTV in the mornings. I believe it use to come out at 7:30 a.m. every morning. I learned alot from watching this show; but I can’t find it any more. It makes me sad when shows like this one are no longer showing. Here is a Log Cabin quilt I made for my daughter, she picked the colors; but I picked the fabric. I think it came out beautiful! She loved it! I can’t wait to make more log cabin quilts! Let me know what you think about these colors and the fabric patterns I used. I’m a beginner so any advice would be great!
Handmade Teddy bear topiary; made by me! I learned how to make animal topiary when I applied for a job specifically looking for people to help make rabbit topiary for Easter. I didn’t know the first thing about topiary, but I was determined to learn. Every one that applied for the job had to make a rabbit topiary; of course we watched how it was made from scratch and then we had to make one. A few people left I guess they thought it was going to be easy! I tried my best! I really wanted the job! I went home after that. I was told they would call and let me know. I couldn’t wait much longer after the first day, so I called! The owner said you really want this job? I said yes! So he hired me! I learned a lot there. I don’t work there any more but I keep in touch! They were great people to work for!
This is a beautiful Angel Wing Begonia. It has dark olive leaves with lots of white spots. It blooms light to dark pink flowers. It is a compact grower and it would be a good begonia to grow in a hanging basket. I took this picture outside after we had one of those sudden thunderstorms we have here in the summer time. It gets so hot here in the summer. I’m surprised any plant survives here in Austin! I Give this begonia bright filtered light. It is growing under a tree right now. You can grow this begonia under a covered patio also. Begonias do not like to be over watered; they like to stay on the dry side. When you water Angel Wing begonias water them well and then do not water them until the soil is almost dry. I fertilize my begonias every time I water and once a month I use plain water.
The Star of Bethlehem is the name of this episcia. It is a very beautiful plant and as you can see in the picture it has a very unique flower! I decided to add more pictures of this beautiful episcia; I just took these today July 2nd 2010. The flowers are just beautiful. The leaves are a dark bronze color. I know it is hard to believe, but it is very easy to grow. Please share your experience on growing this beautiful episcia. I know some episcia growers grow their episcias differently than others. Any information would be greatly appreciated. To any one else that hasn’t tried growing episcias try
I am a Collector of begonias, the name of this begonia is Begonia Masoniana; it is commonly called Iron Cross begonia. It was one of the first begonias I have ever collected! You can see in the picture why it is called an Iron Cross. This begonia is called a Rhizomatous begonia; it blooms in the winter. It is easier to grow than a Rex begonia. I will post pictures off Rex begonias soon. Please post a comment, send a picture of your Iron Cross. Ask questions; I have been growing begonias for 25 plus years now. I will be happy to share all I know and if you would like to share your experiences on how to grow, root and take care of this begonia please do share your knowledge so all of the readers of this blog can learn a thing or two me included!
