This episcia is one of the first episcias I collected. It looks hard to grow; but it is one of the easiest to grow. The leaves are a beautiful dark pink color. It is blooming a yellow and orange color in the picture, I don’t know why it bloomed yellow!? But the true color is more of a orange and red flower. I grow this episcia on the patio in the Summer. I know it is seems impossible, but they do like the warm steamy temperatures here in Texas! Don’t be afraid to grow these beauties! They are much easier to grow than an African Violet! Once you get this episcia growing you will have more plants than you can handle! I just love this one it is one of my favorite episcias. As soon as someone sees it they just have to have one!
Does any body want to play with me? I know my toy looks gross but I need to keep biting it over and over again so I can hear that squeaky noise it makes! Plus my baby teeth are bothering me! This is our new puppy he loves his stuffed animal (toy). He runs around the house with his toy in his mouth all day and then when he sees somebody he stops and drops it and stares at you hoping you’ll play with him! He’s just to cute; who can say no to him!
You are looking at some of my Angel Wing begonias growing by the fence under the trees in the Texas heat! Every spring, summer and fall, I take all of my Angel Wing Begonias out of the green house and put them under the trees in my back yard. They just love it out there and they grow so fast. They bloom almost year round! Some of them will stop blooming from December till mid February; but they know when spring time is coming around! Because they just start growing and blooming like crazy!
Begonia Acetosa is an heirloom rhizomatous begonia. This begonia has soft velvety leaves. The leaves are an olive color on the top of the leaf and underneath it is a blood red/burgundy color. So very pretty! The blooms are tall and form a ball shape, it is an unusual flower. The flowers are tiny and form a large ball of flowers gathered together! If you don’t have this begonia them you should add it to your collection. It is just so unusual. I have this begonia growing in my greenhouse right now. I don’t want to move it because it is growing so well there.
Episcia Chocolate Cream is one of the most easiest episcias to grow! The one in the picture is only one month and two weeks old! It was started as a small stolon. I have to transfer it to a 6″ or 8″ pot. It can also be transfered into a hanging basket; but I like to look at my episcias from the top! I grow this one also on the patio in the Texas heat in the Spring and Summer. In the winter back inside under the lights! Try this episcia first if you have never grown an episcia. It will not disappoint you! Please send in any pictures of your episcias with any information. I know episcias need different care in other parts of the country. So if you would like to share your episcia experience that would be great!
